Patient Privacy at Maine Neurology

In accordance with the American Academy of Neurology's Code of Professional Conduct, Maine Neurology physicians maintain complete patient privacy and confidentiality.

• Details of a patient's life or illness are not released without prior consent from the patient.
• Patient records at Maine Neurology include relevant history, neurologic findings, assessment, and plan of evaluation and treatment.
• Patients are entitled to a copy of their medical records.

Under the government-mandated Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), only patients and individuals authorized by the patient may get personal and protected patient information. Patients wishing authorization should speak with their physician's secretary.
